I have walked this path for decades.
I believed I marched proudly and tall.
There were times I noticed that I limped.
This seemed odd to me.
There were times my vision seemed to blur
Things were somewhat different that I thought I saw them.
This too seemed odd to me also.
There were times I seem to miss what others said.
Things seemed to confuse me somewhat.
This was odd but no one is perfect ok?
Sometimes it was hard to do the things I wanted,
Things that I needed, things that I knew I should do.
This too was odd but again no one is perfect.
Still I was confident in my abilities
Confident in my judgment, my vision.

Then I found a magic mirror
A wonderful and terrible mirror.
I saw a middle-aged man
Naked, shackled, partially blind
Carrying a heavy load.
An awkward load that sometimes
Veiled my sight to reality.
A load thick in places that hid my ears from things
That others heard, others said
A load I was forced to hold on to tightly
So tightly that I could not do the things I wanted
I could not reach for the things I needed
A load so heavy
my feet stumbled as I walked through life.
I found I was not running but stumbling.

As my eyes accustomed themselves
I realized this mirror was held there
By many new friends.
As I gave permission
They began to help me remove my load.
My eyes are clearer now,
I hear the voice of reason
My strength has returned to my legs
I stand tall now and my hands
Reach out offering to hold
The magic mirror for my fellows
And to ease their load as they, like me
Become aware of that invisible
Load we unknowingly carried.

awesome bit of writing. we all stumble, we all fall, we all hit the ground. what is important is how we deal with it. do we lay there in self pity, or do we gather our stength, get up and walk again?

You're so right. I wish I had a nickel for every time I hit the dirt and was able to get up just because I knew there were going to be others around who would be there for me and who would never judge me.

Much love,

Nobody living can ever stop me
As I go walking my freedom highway.
Nobody living can make me turn back:
This land was made for you and me.

In my early wanderings I crashed into a few peoples lives,
I wish I could go back and say, "Iím sorry, if you could only see how innocent my blurred vision was".

I have had the mirror held up and know that now that I can better chose the direction I allow my life to go. The mirror is panoramic on this sight , and I am grateful.
