I have been in therapy for about a year now. I didn't start going to therapy because of the abuse that happened when I was younger, but it soon raised its ugly head.

I was struck by one of the comments you made, regarding the paper clip. I too never realized how much how much I communicate through my hands until someone at the last WoR commented to me that he could read my emotions through my hands. I have since noticed that when I begin to get anxious, specifically when I begin remember events from my past, my hands seem to have a mind of their own. I unconsciously pick at my fingernails, and wring my hands. I was thinking that maybe I should carry a paper clip with me at all times, and when I begin feeling anxious maybe take that out and use it as therapy.

Thanks for sharing.

That great for you. I'm glad you have stuck with it to try again.

I second that to guys who are nervous about seeking therapy. It sure has helped me. That "take charge" is interesting. It can take you a long way I think.

Et par le pouvoir d’un mot Je recommence ma vie, Je suis né pour te connaître, Pour te nommer

And by the power of a single word I can begin my life again, I was born to know you, to name you

Glad to hear therapy is working for you! good stuff!

I can say unequivocally that the lie of "To truly heal you must first forgive" has derailed more victims than the abusers themselves.
