My walls are cracked, the plaster is falling
Deep inside various spiders are crawling
My two-by-fours were fastened the wrong way
Theyíre coming loose from too much rough play

My roof has been beaten over the years
The shingles are falling like many tears
Itís hard to protect whatís deep inside
When my structure has secrets it can no longer hide

My floor has been stepped on until itís weak
Itís losing strength for I hear it creak
Like years of feet treading on my soul
Wiping their shoes on me was their goal

My doors have been slammed so many times
To hide from the world my bitter crimes
The doorframe is slanted and out of line
It reminds of a world which was unkind

The corner room suffered a fire one day
The flames ruled on high amidst the fray
Black are the walls, and the curtains laid waste
A fiery day for which I was chaste

A rebuild is needed, how sad a thought
To tear down a life that enemies wrought
Renovation will help to heal this life
Disabling memories of pain and strife

A good starting point, the foundationís not bad
It can be fixed, and will not remain sad
Build me from there and make me brand new
Life will have a more stable view.

Money talks, but all it tells me is goodbye.

If I could meet myself as a boy...

Good foundation indeed Andy. I am good with a saw and hammer if you need some help. I may even learn something by helping others rebuild. Great picture. Good thoughts.

Yep, the foundations are just fine my friend. I'm glad you are taking a positive attitude towards the rebuild. When I began reading the poem I was wondering if there would be opening and slamming doors ....

Much love,

Nobody living can ever stop me
As I go walking my freedom highway.
Nobody living can make me turn back:
This land was made for you and me.

Despite your "house's" condition I still see the beauty
But then again I think spiders are awesome \:\)
When you have your housewarming if I am invited
I will bring you a welcome mat to replace your doormat

I think we are all "fixer-uppers"

Awesome imagery, Andy.
From what I've "seen" of you online - I'd say your foundation is not only secure, but you have a very good start on your redesign/remodel.

Thanx for sharing. As daunting as the rebuild may look right now, I have no doubt you will end up with the home of your dreams. And I'm guessing it will have quite the playground.
