MY GIFT

Running through the meadow leaving life and death behind
Touching syncopating rhythms near the ambit of my mind
I catch a glimpse of something moving swiftly from behind
So I stop
And I watch
As it falls so quickly to the ground
Then with retrogressive pacing and a heart so full of fire
I crouch to touch the memory
Old thoughts in their attire
Wearing garments spun from silver
Hiding features that inspire
All the beauty of a life now changed
To light its funeral pyre
With trembling legs I try to stand
I fall but rise again
With a strength now felt
Unknown ‘til now
From a warm and loving hand

written for my wife but appropriate for everyone on this site.

Dan,

What a great gift for your wife on her 40th. What did he say about it?

Much love,
Larry

Mostly she cried as well as my daughters. We put a scrapbook of pages from everyone we could get, my daughters put it together so their joy was overflowing after reading my love to my wife (not their mother). I like the statement about the people that love us and support us. Thanks
