I am finding it hard to find providers that understand csa issues. I have been to only straight medical providers and been labeled as having women issues or "what do I call you "-gay,etc. Trying to explain about rectal exams and my issues doesn't go anywhere or I am not relaxing enough.

I found a gay doctor 45 minutes away and have a straight therapist but who really understands csa issues. The waiting list for the gay doc. is long and 1st appointment is in Oct. My psychiatric meds have been handled by my current primary doctor. The meds aren't working that well and shortest waiting list for a psychiatrist is in another town. I will be driving all over the place to get the help I need.

My last frustration is that my insurance will not cover psychiatrists until I meet $5000 deductible. Routine doctor visits are covered.

I don't know what to do with all the memories flooding back. Additionally I find my short term memory isn't all that hot. If you have any ideas or suggestions, please let me know.

Finding the proper Therapist can be a really long and arduous task. I still have not found one that is gay and specialises in CSA issues. The best i have found is someone who specialises in CSA issues that is 2 hours away.

With the memories flooding back...take a deep breath and take them one at a time. This too shall time.

Welcome by the way...

Perhaps ask for a referral from the closest gay/lesbian center to you? The GLBT center in los angeles actually has an entire mental health department... amazingly helpful. Not sure if others have something similar.

Another good way is to just try to network through a gay doctor or other healthcare professional. Perhaps even the gay therapist with a waiting list could provide a referral to someone else who could see you. If he/she is really that busy they shouldn't mind referring you to someone else at all.
