Mark:

You are asking the right questions... The answers will come at the right time. Most of us have spent our lives hiding the "real" us from the world because we think they will reject us if they really knew the "truth". At first it is counter intuitive to "open" up these areas to safe people, it just doesn't make sense, but it helps. Each time we take a brick down and let the light shine in, we get a little better. We learn to trust a little more.

When a guy does that he doesn't see himself as pushing away a chance for happiness, he sees himself as avoiding a risk of disaster. This is what happens when a boy is abused. He comes to see the world as full of danger that can reach him from anywhere at any time. That feeling doesn't fade just because the boy is a man now.

This is a stage that we pass through, bro. Yes, it sucks, and yes, it takes too long. But yes, we are worth it.

Much love,
Larry
