I just thought I'd report it here. My Dad just died. 2/20/07. He had been ill for a few years, and finally secumed to kidney failure. He wanted to go off dialysis at a certain point, when he got really bad...and so we honored that choice.

I had lots of anger issues with him in my 30's, but resolved them with him (and therapy). And I was able to talk to him about being abused by a camp councelor.

I loaned him a fax machine a few years ago, and that was a very good thing. I got letter after letter sent to my "always on" office fax machine. I am sorting through them now and will put them in some sort of order for a memory book.

I just wanted you to know that an important man in my life died. And I miss him.

Dear Newo,

You have my prayers and sympathies. You too had quite a journey together, and I'm glad for you and offer condolances on your loss.

Sorry to hear about your Dad's death. It sounds like you were able to resolve some things with him before he died. I know for all the difficulty that I had with my Dad, the fact that he and I were able to work through some of what happened to me, made all the difference. I think that he even respected me some by the time that he died. I was always the dumb kid who wouldn't amount to anything.
Please accept my sympathy as you grieve your father's death.

I'm sorry to hear that your Dad passed on. I'm glad to hear that you were able to build a good relationship with him.

I'll be praying for you.

Hi Newo,

I'm really sorry for your loss.
I haven't lost my father, but I did lose my mother, a few years ago.
It still hurts, but I think for me, the sharp edges of the pain, soften a bit eventually.
Sometimes it gets really difficult again though.
Glad you sorted some things out whit him before he died.

You lost the things that you thought you would never miss.
You let them out and miss them while they're gone
But there's memories down here and they will always live down here
No they can't take them away, so they won't

I'm sorry for the loss of your Dad. Like Stefan, I lost my Mom so I know the how painful the loss of a parent you love can be. You and he were both lucky to have gotten to know one another in these past years. Hold on to that. You'll cry rivers while putting together your memory book but I'll bet you'll laugh a little too; that's what will get you through.
