And I am here once again
Here in this room of silent screams
Here in this room of injured souls
Beautiful souls that roam the night
Dragging their chains
Chains taken up as little boys
We sit
We chat
And watch our shadows flickering on the walls
Sometimes seeing wondrous things
Sometimes seeing shadows from the past
Awful things
We sometimes scream
We cannot help ourselves, when shadows seem so real
And we are lost inside them
And then a tender hand reaches out and rests upon a shoulder
A loving calm
A friend with peace to offer
Sanctuary from the unending storm
Sometimes I simply pass a friend while walking here
We do not speak
But say so much with open eyes
Eyes that send with their gaze, a spirit in to soothe with warm embrace
Don't ever take this room away
This room of wounded souls
Wounded men, exhausted from the day
Exhausted from a life of trudging on in spite of.......
Never sure exactly how it grips their souls the way it does.
And no one else can understand
But here they do
Here they understand without saying
You're here
They know why
They understand
Instant acceptance
Instant caring
Instant love
You're new?
You'll learn.
Come sit a while with me, and watch the shadows on the wall.
One may be yours.
Don't worry
I'm here beside you with a tender hand to comfort you
Should it ever be your shadow that you see upon the wall.

I'm healing now, and I wasn't sure I would.

Thanx for this post. I think you say what we all are trying too but does not have the words.

Not Perfect, just forgiven

I love that reassurance at the end, especially.

Money talks, but all it tells me is goodbye.

If I could meet myself as a boy...

Absolutely awesome, Bobby. You know you do that for me with your poetry don't you? That reassurance? Thanks so much!

Love you, Bro.
